Frequently Asked Questions

A virtual job fair is an online event that takes place on a specific day and time to allow employers and job seekers to interact in a virtual environment, using chat rooms and other web-based tools to converse and exchange information. Each company has its own booth, and you can virtually visit each one of them to find job openings prior to and during the event. Employers can also schedule live and pre-recorded webinars during the event.
This event will be held online (“live”) on Wednesday, April 21, 9:00am
Yes, registration is required. Simply follow the link at the top of the page and submit the short registration form. You’ll then receive an email confirming your registration for the event.
This event is exclusively for students and community members. Whether you are actively job seeking or exploring a career transition, our Virtual Job Fair will give you a unique opportunity to meet with employers who are interested in employees in a variety of industries, roles, and functions.
While we tried to schedule this event for an optimal day and time, we understand your schedule may not allow you to attend even a portion of the live event. This Virtual Job Fair website will remain open for 30 days after April 21, and you can visit whenever it’s convenient for you during that time. You will be able to view information such as documents and pre-recorded webinars/videos and leave off-line messages for company contacts. (Real-time online connections through the site will not be possible after the April 21 event ends.)
Yes! We have encouraged companies to be online as much of the 3-hour event as possible, but times may vary based on representatives’ availability. A schedule of company chat availability and webinars will be available on the Virtual Job Fair platform prior to the event and will be updated frequently up to the event.
No, you do not need to download or install any software to participate. You only need to have access to the internet.
While it’s certainly an opportunity to connect with people at companies to pursue open positions that interest you — and you can apply directly to openings through the VFairs event platform — we also are encouraging employers and participants to make the most of the event for networking and awareness-building. This event is for job-seekers and knowledge-seekers alike.
Yes! It’s a terrific opportunity to learn about the participating organizations and expand your network of high-quality contacts, which are valuable for a future career move and/or to stay current and connected in your current (or a new) industry.
A few things to note:
First, if you upload your resume when you register for the Virtual Job Fair, it is possible that a colleague or HR representative will see your resume. We are promoting the value of networking during this event — in addition to recruitment — but if you have privacy concerns, we suggest not uploading your resume into the Virtual Job Fair system.

However, you still have the opportunity to share your resume specifically with company contacts, if requested after engaging in group chat room, 1:1 text or video conversations.

Second, you can interact with other companies in their booths, which will not be visible to your participating employer.
